Ex-Sara Lee plant, land sold to New Mill Capital

An affiliate of New Mill Capital has bought a 375,000-square-foot bakery plant that once housed the operations of the former Sara Lee Corp., and more 89 acres of land in Paris, Texas, for an undisclosed sum.

Paris is about two hours northeast of Dallas.

NWC-Paris LLC bought the property at 2020 19th St. NW in Paris from Sara Lee Diversified LLC.

Los Angeles-based New Mill Capital plans to market the property to a user through David Sours of CBRE.

Allen Gump of Colliers International’s Dallas office, along with Bob Chodos out of Chicago and Chris Cummings out of Atlanta, represented Illinois-based Sara Lee Bakery Corp. in the deal.

“Paris is a good location for large facilities like that and they have a good labor base,” said Gump, an executive vice president at Colliers International.

The property was one of the surplus properties that Sara Lee had closed in the past couple of years as commodity prices have increased, according to media reports.

Sara Lee is now known as Hillshire Brands Co. (NYSE: HSH) which operates a former Sara Lee facility in Haltom City.
